There is definitely some sort of hierarchy of communications going in with humans and I think it follows Maslow's hierarchy of needs. Consider initially we communicate because we are hungry or tired. We need to communicate to alert someone of that. Once our comfort is satiated, we communicate when we are in danger so that we can possibly get out of danger. We scream to Grompt to come out and stick a spear in whatever is attacking us. Once we have safety we communicate because we need to be loved and acknowledged. We want people to tell us we are loved. Eventually when we become self-actualized, we communicate out of the desire for others to similarly become self-actualized, out of some inherent need to help others we perceive as needing help.
